High Production Volume (HPV) Documents, Testing Plans and Testing Programs
The EPA Right To Know activities and the European Existing Chemicals Program have come together to give us the EPA’s High Production Volume Chemicals Program. In this Program, EPA has requested manufactures of all chemicals produced at over a million pound per year to review the available physical-chemical and toxicity data for these materials and bring them up to the level of the EU Screening Information Data Set battery of information.
The typical objective of preparing a document and testing plan for the EPA is to most efficiently use the existing data to fill the data gaps conducting as few animal tests as possible. Variations on this might be to conduct testing that was planned as part of normal product stewardship activities but modify the testing appropriately to fill the HPV data gaps.
TRA has experience in data collection, preparation of adequate robust summaries and in interpretation of diverse data to fill the HPV endpoints. Pro-active testing with an alternative protocol is another way to efficiently fill data gaps and complete the HPV requirements. TRA can assist you in meeting your obligations.
Examples of HPV documents that TRA has prepared can be found on the EPA’s HPV website. Please feel free to contact TRA to discuss the strategies that were employed to complete these successful HPV submissions.
